News in brief

  • Thanks to Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight England have scored 169/5 in the second semi final of the World Cup. SA are yet to bat. Will 169 be enough? It wasn’t for India on this same ground two days ago in the first semi final. The match continues…
  • UPDATE: England has defeated South Africa by 40 runs to win the second semi final. They now play Australia at Lord’s on Sunday in the final.
  • Shabnim Ismail has taken 2-31 in the semi final against England. That gives her 51 T20 World Cup wickets, the first player to reach that mark. (Next best is  Megan Schutt with 48.)
  • Friday quiz: Stumped! How many will you get this week? Do the quiz.
  • Player of the Tournament page nears the end. Orla Prendergast sits in top spot, after all the Pool matches have been played. We’ll continue during the finals, but if a stop were put to it now, Orla is the POTT.
