Women’s Cricket Daily – 9 July 2026
Welcome to today’s women’s international cricket update featuring overnight results, today’s matches, breaking news and a look back through history.
News in brief
- England’s Tammy Beaumont is set to retire at the end of the Lord’s Test. The opener has represented England for 17 years across all formats and remains the first and only England player to have scored a Test double century.
- “This Test match at Lord’s – our first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s – feels like the perfect occasion to sign off on a career that I could never have dreamt would be as special as it has been.” – Beaumont
- When Beaumont scored that double ton, she beat England’s previous best Test innings, 189 by Betty Snowball in 1935. Today is the birthday of that former champion.
- India coach Amol Muzumdar is stressing the need for the team to leave behind the disappointment of the World Cup and focus on the Test. “I’m sure all the players are looking forward for the Test match. Just leave aside the disappointment and get into the present.”
- The PCB has granted Fatima Sana permission to miss the T20I part of Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka to play for Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred.
- Only three English players will captain teams in the Hundred this year. Five of the eight captains will be overseas players.
- Starting Friday at Bready, Ireland host West Indies for a three match ODI series. Ireland will be keen to use their recent T20 success against West Indies in the World Cup to motivate them in this 50 over format. In 12 meetings they have only defeated West Indies once.
