Born on 21st May 1997 in Kwekwe, Midlands, is current ODI and T20 International player for Zimbabwe, Josephine Nakai Nkomo.
A right-arm medium-fast bowler and right hand batter, Josephine made her T20I debut against Namibia at Walvis Bay in January 2019. Opening the bowling with Nomvelo Sibanda, she took 4-12 from her four overs, announcing her arrival in emphatic fashion.
Josephine has become a vital cog in the Zimbabwe team since then, playing a total of 26 matches taking 23 wickets at 12.47, with a best of 4-7 against Uganda in April of 2022.
Batting in the middle order she has scored 281 runs at 25.56 at a strike rate of 102.93 with a top score of 56 not out against Mozambique in Gaborone, Botswana in September 2021. Josephine has also stepped in as captain for a number of games in the absence of Mary-Anne Musonda.
Zimbabwe made their ODI debut last year and celebrated with victory over Ireland making them one of very few teams to win their first match in this format. In the second match of the series, Josephine scored 70 not out, her highest score in six ODIs. She has scored 164 runs at 32.80, including two half centuries. (Note, she scored 56 not out against Thailand in a match that was designated as an ODI and then rescinded by the ICC.)
