Born February 17th 1984 in Pretoria, Transvaal, former Test, ODI and T20I cricketer for South Africa, Charlize van der Westhuizen.
Charlize made both her Test and ODI debut on the tour of England in 2003. In the first Test, at Denis Compton Oval, the newcomer for South Africa top scored for her team with 83 runs. Her left arm slow bowling picket up 1-67 from 25 overs. The second Test of that series would be her last, a short Test career with a batting average of 39.75 and a bowling average of 38.66.
Her ODI debut came in that same series, three one-dayers sandwiched between the two Tests. Charlize was caught and bowled by Lucy Pearson for a duck and took 0-33 from four overs. Not the best start! Her batting never reached any great heights over her 33 ODI matches but her bowling came to the fore where she took 26 wickets at 31.30 with a best of 4-30.
To round out her career, Charlize made her debut in the T20I format in 2008. As with ODIs her performance with the ball where she took 10 wickets in her 12 matches, with a best of 2-27.
