Born on July 18th 1992 in Middledrift, Eastern Cape, is a current ODI and T20I player for South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka.
A right-arm medium-fast bowler, Ayabonga made her international debut in an ODI match against Bangladesh on 6th September 2012. Also on debut was Sune Luus. Khaka came on first change after Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp. Then Luus would follow. It would become a staple for South Africa for the next nine years.
Five days after that match Ayabonga would make her T20 International debut, once again alongside Sune Luus. She has since played a total of 33 T20Is and 66 ODIs. One more in either format sees 100 international matches for South Africa.
Ayabonga has taken 80 ODI wickets with a best of 4-40, although her 2-28 from 10 overs against England in the 2017 World Cup semi-final might have been her most satisfying return. She has 29 wickets so far in T20Is with a best of 4-23 against Ireland in 2014. Most recently we have seen her perform on tour for South Africa in India in April 2021.
