A dynamic and hard hitting right hand batter, Tanya made her debut on the international stage in 2017 in the T20 World Cup qualifiers, scoring 20 in her opening match in a team total of 97. The team struggled against full member nations Pakistan and South Africa but went within 7 runs of beating Scotland. Not a bad start for a team that didn’t have international status.
In 2018 Papua New Guinea obtained that status and finished fourth in the Qualifiers that year. Since then the team has gone from strength to strength and in no small part due to the batting of Tanya.
Since her debut Tanya has played in 38 T20 Internationals, scoring 871 runs, the most for a PNG player. Her top score of 69 not out was against Samoa at Suva in March 2023 and is one of five half centuries to her name.
