Sara McLauchlan

Born on 6th April 1973, Christchurch, Canterbury, Sara McLauchlan is a former Test and ODI cricketer for New Zealand.

A right-hand batter and right-arm medium pace bowler, it was with the ball that Sara was most known for. She made her First Class debut for Canterbury in 1990/91 and by the following season was selected to play for the White Ferns, Test cap 98 and ODI cap 59.

Making her Test debut against England at Wanganui, Sara has the distinction of making a pair on debut, the fourth to do so. (Nine overall) It was the first of four Tests and was where she picked up her best bowling figures of 1-7.

The ODI arena was more successful with Sarah playing 29 matches for New Zealand which included World Cup appearances in 1993 and 1997. Indeed, her final appearance for New Zealand was in the final of the 1997 World Cup at Eden Gardens in Calcutta (Kolkata).

Her best bowling figures were 2-6 against the Australians at Beckenham in the World Cup of 1993 where the Aussies were routed for 77 and the White Ferns won by 10 wickets.
