Rose Signal

Born on May 4th 1962 in Feilding, Manawatu, former Test and ODI player for New Zealand, Rosemary Jill Signal created history with her twin sister Liz Signal.

The sisters were the first twins to play in the same Test cricket match and the first twins to play in an ODI.

Rose made her First Class debut for Central Districts in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield in 1979/80 against Canterbury. Two days later Liz made her debut against Auckland.

The sisters were selected in the New Zealand squad to tour England in 1984. On the 6th of July they made history, being the first twins ever to play in the same Test. Neither featured greatly with bat or ball and it remained as Rose’s only match in this format.

More history was made on that same tour when the Netherlands hosted New Zealand in a one-day international on 8th August 1984. With both sisters in the team, Rose and Liz became the first twins to play in an ODI match.
