Born on May 4th 1962 in Feilding, Manawatu, former Test and ODI player for New Zealand, Elizabeth Ann Signal created history with her twin sister Rose Signal.
Rose made her First Class debut for Central Districts in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield in 1979/80 against Canterbury. Two days later Liz made her debut against Auckland.
Liz was a right-arm medium pace bowler while Rose was slightly quicker and both were selected in the New Zealand squad to tour England in 1984. On the 6th of July they made history, being the first twins ever to play in the same Test. Neither featured greatly with bat or ball and it remained as Rose’s only match in this format. Liz ended up playing six Test matches.
More history was made on that same tour when the Netherlands hosted New Zealand in a one-day international on 8th August 1984. With both sisters in the team, Rose and Liz became the first twins to play in an ODI match. Liz played nineteen ODIs for the White Ferns while Rose played in six.
