Born on 7th February 1985, in Dunedin, Otago, the Test, ODI and T20I wicket keeper for New Zealand, Katey Martin.
Katey made her Test debut (cap 116) in November 2003 against India in Vapi. It was her one and only Test and while she took no catches or made any stumpings, she batted at number three and made 46 in the first innings. Seventeen years later and Katey was still playing for New Zealand in ODI and T20I formats in October 2020.
Her ODI debut (cap 97) was on the same tour of India, at Mumbai and her first victim in international cricket was Anjum Chopra. Since that beginning in India Katey has appeared in two World Cups (2009, 2017) and played in 91 ODIs in total. She has scored 1568 runs with a top score of 81. With the gloves she executed 66 dismissals, 50 catches and 16 stumpings.
Katey’s T20 International debut (cap 25) came in 2008, at home in Lincoln, but as a batter. However Katey has since notched up 56 dismissals – 32 catches and 24 stumpings, while scoring 987 runs with a strike rate of 110.03. She has appeared in six T20 World Cups, including the most recent edition in Australia in March 2020.
