Pauline te Beest

Born on February 13th 1970 in Harlem, former ODI captain for the Netherlands, Pauline te Beest made her international debut in 1990.

Pauline’s ODI debut for the Netherlands came just two years after the country played its first official ODI. Slotting in at the top of the order, mostly at three, but occasionally opening, Pauline’s first score of note came in the first of her three World Cup appearances, in 1993.  She top scored with 62 as the Netherlands upset the more fancied West Indies team.

In 1997 Pauline becomes the captain of the national team and celebrates with a 2-0 demolition of Denmark. In 1997/8 Pauline leads her team to the quarter finals of the World Cup in New Zealand. This is the best result in World Cups for the Netherlands. Pauline was also at the helm for her final World Cup, in New Zealand in 2000/1.

In 2003 she made her highest ever score, 142 against Japan at Sportpark Harga, Schiedam. It was the second of her two centuries in ODIs.

Over 64 matches Pauline scored 1361 runs, the first Netherlands woman to score over 1000 runs. Two centuries and four fifties round out the equation. As captain in 29 matches she is also the longest serving leader of the Netherlands team.
