Saibh Young

Born on 5th September 1967 in Dublin, former Test and ODI player for Ireland, Saibh Anna Young, played international cricket for a decade.

A right-hand batter and medium pace bowler, Saibh made her international debut in an ODI as part of the Women’s European Championship in 1990. She made a six ball duck and took 0-24 from eight overs.

Over the next decade, Saibh would play 36 ODIs fort Ireland including appearances at the 1993 and 2000 World Cups. Over that career she took 32 wickets at 28.62 with a best of 4-24 against Pakistan in Dublin in 2000. Captain Miriam Grealey scored a ton.

On that same tour of Ireland by Pakistan, Saibh and ten other Ireland players made their Test debut. It remains the only Test Ireland have played. Saibh didn’t get a bat but bowled 17 overs across both innings, taking 0-11, with 12 maidens.
