Nilima Jogalekar

Born on July 21st, 1961 in Poona (Pune), Maharashtra, is former Indian Test and ODI player and one time captain, Nilima Jogalekar.

Nilima Barve was a wicket keeper and middle order batsman who made her debut on the international stage in the World Cup of 1978. She was just sixteen years of age. It was the only match in that campaign but she returned to the national ODI team for the 1982 World Cup, as well as ODI series against Australia and New Zealand in 1984/85.

In twenty ODIs Nilima scored 193 runs with a best of 28. With the gloves she took 11 catches and 4 stumpings for a total of 15 dismissals.

Nilimia played five Test matches for India. The first four of those against Jill Kennare’s visiting Australian team in 1983/4, then one final Test in 1984/5 against New Zealand, in which she became India’s second Test captain. It was also her last Test. In those five Tests Nilima scored 166 runs with a top score of 41. Behind the stumps she took 5 catches and 9 stumpings for a total of 14 dismissals. Nilimia bowled one over in Tests and another over in ODIs.
