Ruth Westbrook

Born on 12th July 1930, Greenhithe, Kent, Ruth Westbrook is a former wicket keeper for England who played eleven Tests.

Ruth played her debut at Lancaster Park, Christchurch against New Zealand in 1957/58. Tests against Australia in the same season and a tour to South Africa in 1960/61. Her final series the successful Ashes campaign for England in 1963.

Her highest score of 87 was against South Africa at Capetown in 1960/61. Her 22 dismissals is the 7th highest in Test cricket.

After her playing career had ended, Ruth stayed in the game and was the first coach employed by the England women’s team and included the successful 1993 World Cup victory, after which she retired.
