Joan Hawes

Joan Hawes was a fast bowler for England who played three Test matches on the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1957/8. It was a series more noted for the feats of the spin bowlers so it was not an easy tour for the quicks.

Joan is also noted for her 1987 book, “Women’s Test Cricket – the Golden Triangle 1934-84”. The book covers every Test match between England, Australia and New Zealand from the beginning of Test cricket in 1934 to the jubilee series in 1984.
