Rene Farrell

Born on 13th January 1987 in Kogarah, NSW, former Test, ODI and T20 International player for Australia, Rene Michelle Farrell.

A right-arm medium-fast bowler, Rene made her debut for NSW in 2006/07 and had such an impact was catapulted into the Australian team during the Rose Bowl series in that same season, taking 3-36 in her debut.

Lack of wickets in the domestic comp saw Rene dropped from the national team in 2007/08 where upon she moved to Western Australia where she also concentrated on her batting. Recalled for the World Cup in 2009, taking 7 wickets including 3-26 and made her T20I debut later that year against New Zealand, taking 3-13.

A Test debut against England in the same year, at Worcester saw her first wicket being Caroline Atkins and finished with 3-32.

Her most famous Test performance was at Bankstown Oval against England in 2010/11 where Rene took a hat trick in the second innings, bowling Australia to victory after a bold declaration by captain Alex Blackwell.

Rene dismissed Caroline Atkins, then Jenny Gunn leaving England at 4-92. At 95 she trapped Charlotte Edwards for 28. With the next delivery she clean bowled Katherine Brunt and then trapped Danni Wyatt LBW with the next ball. Rene finished with 5-23 which was her best result in Test cricket.

Rene played three Tests, the 2009 ODI World Cup and the 2009, 2010, 2014, 2016 T20 World Cups. She played five seasons for Sydney Thunder in the WBBL and Surrey Stars in the Kia Super League.
