Born on 7th October 1977 in Blacktown, NSW former Test, ODI and T20 International player for Australia, Michelle Ann Jane Goszko.
A right hand batter and right-arm medium pace bowler, Michelle made her debut for NSW in 1995/96 against South Australia in the Australian Women’s Cricket Championships.
Good returns for NSW saw her international debut for Australia in 1997/98 against New Zealand. Batting at three, she scored 30. It was the first of 34 ODI matches for Michelle where she scored a total of 669 runs with a top score of 51 not out.
In 2001 Michelle made her Test debut against England at Dennis Compton Oval. After Cathryn Fitzpatrick (5-29) and the Aussies skittled England for 103, the visitors were 2/60 at stumps on day one. The debutant was 21* with Lisa Keightley 20*.
Keightley went early on day two for 36 which wa the second top score for Australia. The entire day belonged to Michelle Goszko who batted a total of 395 minutes, faced 345 deliveries, scoring 204 runs. Only the third player to score a double century in Test cricket, and the second by an Australian. What a debut!
Michelle played just one T20 International, rounding out the feat of playing in all international formats. Involved in coaching since retirement, Michelle was named 228th Life Member of Cricket NSW.
