Mel Jones

Born on August 11 1972, in Barnstaple, Devon, England is former Australian Test and ODI player, Mel Jones.

Right hand batsman and rare medium pace bowler, Jones made her Test debut against England at Woodbridge Road, Guildford in August 1998 and what a debut! In a 220 run partnership with Joanne Broadbent, Mel scored 131 in 267 minutes, a century on debut. (To celebrate, the captain gave her an over to bowl in England’s second innings – the ninth bowler used and her only six deliveries in Test cricket. 0-2)

Jones’ ODI career had taken off previously, against Pakistan in Melbourne in 1997 and continued for 61 matches which saw her pass the 1000 run mark.
