Born on 15th March 1983 in Snowtown, South Australia, former Test, ODI and T20I player for Australia, Lauren Ebsary was an allrounder.
Lauren made her debut for South Australia in season 2000/1 at the age of seventeen in a team captained by Karen Rolton and including Joanne Broadbent, Shelley Nitschke, Olivia Magno. That’s some pretty good company. After performing for SA for the next seven seasons she migrates to Perth in 20007/8 and it is from her new home in Western Australia that she gains the attention of the national selectors.
A debut for Australia against India at the SCG in November 2008 saw the first of her nineteen one-day international matches for Australia. In February 2009 she made her highest ODI score of 86 against New Zealand at Hamilton. In total Lauren made 402 runs at 28.71.
Lauren played her one and only Test in 2009 against England in Jodie Field’s team. She took the wickets of Claire Taylor and Jenny Gunn while making 21 in the second innings batting at four.
International T20 matches were only just making their way onto the fixture list while Lauren was still playing and she only featured in 14 matches, scoring 113 runs with a strike rate of 109.70. In the domestic version of the format, Lauren played until 2018/19 from Adelaide Strikers, to Perth Scorchers and Wellington. Lauren played in the 2009 ODI World Cup and the 2009, 2012/13 editions of the T20 World Cup.
