Malaysia v Bangladesh 18 Jan 2022

Series: Commonwealth Games Qualifier Jan 2022
Venue: Kinrara Academy Oval
Format: T20I
Toss: Bangladesh
Result: Bangladesh by 8 wickets

From the moment Nigar Sultana won the toss and elected to field, the Lady Tigers were in control of this game and looked completely untroubled.

A polished bowling and field effort restricted Malaysia to just 49/9 after 20 overs which would never be enough. Captain Winnie Duraisingam was Malaysia’s best with the bat and included a gorgeous cover drive to the boundary.

Best with the ball for Bangladesh were Rumana Ahmed (2-4) and Suraiya Azmin (2-7) but even Nahida Akter (1-15) was hard to get away and also brought about a spectacular runout of  Mas Elysa (11) off her own bowling.

The Bangladesh openers Shamima Sultana (28) and Murshida Khatun (14) comfortably negotiated the Malaysian attack and it was a surprise to see them both get out, although credit goes to the bowler Nur Arianna Natsya (2-14) for deceiving the batters.

In the end, Bangladesh cruised home to win the match after eight overs by 8 wickets.
