Henriette Ishimwe Shines in Rwanda Victory
The Rwanda allrounder Henriette Ishimwe was instrumental with bat, ball and in the field for Rwana’s three wicket victory over Botswana.
Rwanda’s Diane Bimenyimana won the toss and sent Botswana in to bat. It was slow going in the Powerplay, as evidenced by the dismissal of Olebogeng Batisani for just 3 runs from 14 deliveries. She was the first of two wickets to Henriette Ishimwe (2-11) who was also instrumental in running out three of the Botswana batters. Amidst all that chaos the steady hand of Shameelah Mosweu who top scored with 21 as the team finished with 94/9.
Rwanda made the chase more difficult than it needed to be. In form openers Gisele Ishimwe (13) and Sarah Uwera (18) gor the team off to a good start but once Ishimwe was dismissed when the score was 30, a couple of quick wickets and it was 53/4. Henriette Ishimwe, following on from her efforts in the field capped off a good day by top scoring with 19. Jacqueline Kgang‘s 3-22 added to the drama but in the end Rwanda got home by three wickets with 8 balls to spare.
