Olivia Magno was a most effective leg-break bowler for Australia in Test and ODI cricket from 1994/5 to 2001.
Primarily a leg-break bowler, Magno was also contributed handy runs in the lower order, but in a team that boasted Belinda Clark, Keightley, Joanne Broadbent, Karen Rolton, Mel Jones – Olivia rarely got a hit.
Her leg-breaks gained the attention of the NSW selectors in 1993/4 and then the Australian selectors a year later when she played in her ODI debut against New Zealand, taking 2-25 from her 10 overs in a match that New Zealand won by one run.
A year later she made her Test debut against the same team, but unfortunately the Melbourne weather ruined the Test and hardly a ball was bowled. It was on a tour of England in 1998 where she had her best Test performance, taking 5-87 with the ball and 37 not out with the bat.
Over five Test matches Olivia Magno took eleven wickets at 22.72 and 41 runs at 41.00. In 44 ODIs she took 51 wickets at 18.47 with a best of 4-10.
