Tanzania Pip Rwanda in Race for Finals Spot
In what was effectively a scramble for second position in Group B, Tanzania fought off Rwanda to book themselves a spot in the finals.
After Hudaa Omary won the toss for Tanzania, it Saum Mtae (34) who held the innings together while her team mates succumbed to the much improved Rwanda bowling line-up. A team effort for sure, but best were Margueritte Vumiliya (3-10) and Sifa Ingabire (2-20), backed up by good fielding.
Tanzania would have been more comfortable with more runs in the bank but had to settled for 104/8 after their twenty overs. It would prove more than enough, for while Rwanda have shown vast improvement with the ball there is still some way to go with the bat. It will come, but not today, all out for 61 and ending their chance of a spot in the finals – that will go to Tanzania, winners by 43 runs. Fatuma Kibasu showing great allround skills picking up 4-13 with her off-spin wins her Player of the Match.
