Haidee Tiffen

Born on September 4th 1979, in Timaru, New Zealand, former international player, captain and coach, Haidee Tiffen, one of very few Kiwis to have played Test, ODI and T20I formats.

The first of her international appearances was in an ODI against South Africa in February 1999. Didn’t get a bowl, didn’t get a bat. It wouldn’t stay that way for long. In 117 ODI’s, Haidee scored a mammoth 2919 runs at 30.72 with a top score of an even 100. She took 49 wicket at 19.48, making her one of the key allrounders of her era.

Her Test debut came in 2003 against India in Vapi, Gujarat, where she top scored for New Zealand with 66 not out. With only two Tests to her name it would remain her highest score, although she achieved a batting average of 124.00.

Returning to the white ball stuff, Haidee was appointed skipper of the White Ferns in 2006. Highlight of her 45 matches as captain would be leading New Zealand to the final of the World Cup in 2009 which was also her final game. In those 45 as captain she won 24 matches.

In T20, she played just the nine matches, captaining in eight of those.

Post retirement, Haidee was coach of the White Ferns from 2015-19. It should be noted that she was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2011 New Year Honours, for services to women’s cricket.
