Born on 11th September 2004, current T20 International player for Rwanda is Gisele Ishimwe, an allrounder who made her debut at the age of fifteen.
Since that debut, against Nigeria in 2019 at Abuja, Gisele has played in over 40 T20 Internationals and is a most successful batter. The first to score over 500 runs for Rwanda and only the second player after captain Diane Bimenyimana to score a century, with 114 not out against Eswatini at Gaborone, Botswana in September 2021.
While she hasn’t been called upon to use her medium pace bowling too often at international level, it seems only a matter of time before she bowls more regularly.
Her 2-14 from four overs against Germany at the Kwibuka tournament in June 2022 suggests that her bowling will become more of an asset for Rwanda in the ensuing years.
In September 2022, Gisele led the Rwanda Under 19s team to compete in the African qualifiers for the Women’s U19 World Cup.
