Born on 6th August 1985 in Farnborough, Kent, is former Test, ODI and T20 International player for England, Lydia Sophie Greenway.
A left-hand batter, Lydia also bowled right-arm off-breaks, but over 225 international matches for England, never delivered a single ball. She made her debut for Kent in 2000 and in the Australian summer of 2002/03 made her Test debut at the Gabba.
The Gabba wicket was a fast bowler’s delight and both teams struggled against the quicks. England made 124 and 92, of which Lydia contributed 5 and 1. It couldn’t have been a tougher initiation to Test cricket than facing Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Emma Liddell and Terry McGregor on a green top.
Back home in England against South Africa at Denis Compton Oval Lydia made her highest score in Tests of 70. It was one of two half centuries over her fourteen Tests.
The white ball game seemed a more comfortable place for the left hander and after making her debut in 2003 played in 126 ODIs for England. She scored 2554 runs at 30.04 with a top score of 125 not out, against South Africa at Potchefstroom in 2011. She is sixth on the all-time runs scored for England and is equal with Charlotte Edwards on most catches (52). Lydia also appeared in the 2005, 2009 and 2013 World Cups.
In 85 T20Is Lydia scored 1192 runs (7th highest for England) at 24.32 with a high score of 80 not out and a strike rate of 96.12. Again her catching features in the stats with 54 over her career, second only to Jenny Gunn (58).
