Clinical Germany Takes the Series

Germany now leads the series 3-0 after a 65 run victory in the third T20 International against France.

Anu Doddaballapur won the toss once again however on this occasion chose to bat first. Anna Healey (7) and Tina Gough (22) opened the batting and picked up where they had left off yesterday, getting the run rate ticking over early.

Cindy Breteche made the breakthrough when she removed Healey, but that just brought in more Germans hungry for runs. First Anu Doddaballapur (25) then the top scoring Janet Ronalds (35) to put on a total of 132/4 after twenty overs.

The pick of the bowlers was Breteche (2-16), not just the wickets but the fact that she only bowled two extras. Likewise Poppy McGeown (1-22) who gave away no wides at all. Off spin bowler Marie Violleau (0-32) was a little wayward but continues to show promise.

A very slow run rate and four ducks the highlights of the French reply with Jennifer King (14) the top scorer. Just as they were hungry for runs the Germans were hungry for wickets and none more so than the captain Anu Doddaballapur (4-3) who used eight different bowlers. Janet Ronalds (2-5) contributed with the ball as she had done with the bat, earning her the Player of the match award. The only downside for the Germans was the extras given away, 16 wides and 5 no-balls.

With an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, is it time for the Golden Eagles to experiment?
