Born on 7th April 1992 in Lahore, Punjab, current ODI and T20 International player for Pakistan.
A right-hand batter, Sidra made her international debut in both formats in 2010/11 and while she has been in and out of the team in T20 for Pakistan, she is a solid performer at the top of the order for the team in ODIs where she has scored 2409 runs, only the seventh Pakistan player to have scored more than 1000 runs in the format.
Sidra had everyone scrambling for record books in November 2022 as she knocked over several on her way to 176 not out against Ireland in the first ODI at Lahore. However that was simply the latest chapter in what was an outstanding year for her.
Cast your mind back to the World Cup in New Zealand in 2022. Going into the tournament, Sidra’s form was patchy, her previous best score being 96 against the West Indies in 2019. Against Bangladesh at Hamilton, Sidra not only scored her first century, it was the first ever by a Pakistan player in a World Cup. Then in June against Sri Lanka in Karachi, Sidra scored 123, and in doing so she joined Javeria Khan in scoring two centuries in the format.
Her 176* against Ireland is the highest ever score by a Pakistan player and with six centuries to her name has scored the most for Pakistan. Three centuries in a calendar year. Little wonder the opener was named ICC Player of the Month in November 2022.
In 84 ODIs, Sidra has scored 2409 runs, the third highest all time for Pakistan. In 66 T20Is, 1044 runs with four half centuries. Like Ellyse Perry, Sidra has re-invented her batting style in this format, evidenced by her improved form over the last 18 months.
