Born on August 4th 1991 in Harare, is the ODI and T20 International captain of Zimbabwe, Mary-Anne Musonda.
A right-hand batter and off-break bowler, Mary-Anne first made her presence felt in Under 19’s in 2008/09, first for Centrals in the Zimbabwe Women’s Inter-Provincial Tournament, and then in the Zimbabwe Under 19s in the Girls National Under-19 Week in 2009/10.
Mary-Anne was selected in the Zimbabwe senior team in 2012/13 and played in the ICC Africa Women’s World T20 Qualifiers in 2012/13, however it would not be until 2018 that Zimbabwe would achieve full ICC T20 International status.
It is from that moment on that Mary-Anne has been Zimbabwe captain leading the team victory over Namibia in the final of the ICC Africa Qualifiers in 2019 and against the same team in the 2021 tournament. This record has helped Zimbabwe to obtain 12th place in the ICC T20 International rankings.
Mary-Anne made her ODI debut, along with the rest of the team, against Ireland in October 2021. As with the team’s T20I debut, she led the team to victory on the back of 103 not out, a century in her ODI debut.
