Born September 11, 2000 in Lampang, Nannapat Koncharoenkai is the energetic pocket rocket behind the stumps for the Thailand women’s cricket team.
Her international debut came at the age of just sixteen when she wore the gloves for the senior Thai women’s team for the first time, in a match against China in the ICC Asia Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2016/17. Nannapat didn’t get a bat, but proved her value with a runout and two catches as Thailand beat China by 74 runs. She finished that tournament, which Thailand won having let through just three byes.
Thailand featured in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup 2016/17 and just before her 17th birthday, Nannapat took two stumpings, a catch and a runout in Thailand’s victory over Indonesia in the final of the Southeast Asian Games Women’s Twenty20.
By 2018, Thailand is officially a T20 nation and along with the entire team, Nannapat has built up a wealth of experience and in the years since has played a whopping 37 matches. Her debut was against Pakistan in June 2018 where she stumped the captain Bismah Maroof. Her most recent match was also against Pakistan when Thailand stole the world’s hearts with their rousing performance at the T20 World Cup.
In between Nannapat has chalked up an impressive 35 dismissals as a keeper including 14 catches and 21 stumpings. In 2019 she was at her most impressive, effecting 29 dismissals – the most by any women’s international wicket keeper that year.
Over that time she has also steadily up the batting order to bat at number four. Her 470 runs is the 3rd highest in the Thailand team, with a best of 62 not out.
