Sierra Leone Takes Third

Sierra Leone won the third place play-off against Ghana in their final match of the NCF Invitational 2022, with an emphatic 10 wicket victory over their rivals. The two teams had met earlier in the tournament with Sierra Leone victors on that occasion by 88 runs.

Rhyda Ofori won the toss for Ghana and chose to bat and indeed led the way for her team by top scoring with 24 in a total of 90/9 from the allotted overs.

The first over of the innings began in chaotic fashion with Ann-Marie Kamara bowling a wide, then a catch off her bowling, then a boundary, then clean bowled. It was 7/2 before anyone could take a breath.

At the other end, Fatu Pessima weaved her magic. Very deliberate with every action this bowler, very precise. In the previous encounter between these teams, Fatu took 4-14. Did exactly the same today, finishing with 4-14, giving her 10 wickets for the tournament. Ann-Marie Kamara finished with 3-20.

Aminata Kamara (48*) and Mabinty King (30*) polished off the runs on their own in quick time, allowing Sierra Leone to win by 10 wickets and take home the trophy for third place.
