Born 12th July 1983 in Shizuoka is former ODI and T20 player for Japan, Shizuka Kubota.
A right-hand batter and right-arm medium pace bowler, Shizuka Kubota played in all of the five ODI matches Japan played in 2003.
Japan’s one and only ODI campaign was in the International Women’s Cricket Council Trophy in 2003, basically qualifiers for the ODI World Cup. Japan was up against Pakistan, Ireland, West Indies, Scotland and the Netherlands. You can only imagine the thrashings that followed for a team not even remotely ready to play at this level.
Shizuka made her highest score of 14 against Ireland. It was the top score for the team’s 62 runs if you don’t count the 33 wides delivered by Ireland. She did not bowl during the campaign but did take a catch against Pakistan.
Fast forward to 2013 and Shizuka once again represents for Japan, this time in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers against Canada, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Once again she saved her best for Ireland where she top scored for Japan with 11 runs. She also took a wicket against Canada. All of this was pre ICC status so the only official figures for Shizuka are the five ODIs.
