Born on June 6th 1968 in Auckland, New Zealand is former Test and ODI player for Ireland, Karen Nichole Young.
Karen is one of only four players to have batted in Test cricket for Ireland. She scored 58 in her only innings when Pakistan toured Ireland in 2000. It is the only Test in which Ireland has played and it has left Karen with the lofty batting average of 58.00!
Karen’s ODI career began in the same series and once again she created a batting record against the Pakistan team when she scored 120 in the 3rd ODI at Sydney Parade in Dublin. It remains the highest score by an Ireland player in ODIs.
In nineteen ODIs, which included the World Cup of 2000, Karen scored 289 runs at 17.00 while also taking 3 wickets with her medium pacers.
