Barbara McDonald

Born on 28th May 1972 in Waterford, is former Test and ODI player for Ireland, Barbara Mary McDonald.

A right-hand batter and right-arm medium fast bowler, Barbara made her international debut at the 1993 World Cup. It was the first of 57 ODIs for Ireland and the first of four World Cup tournaments.

Barbara took 54 wickets in ODIs which is third on the all-time wicket takers for Ireland. Her best bowling figures of 4-8 came against Pakistan in Dublin in July 2000.

While Pakistan were on that same tour there was a Test match played between the two teams and remains Ireland’s only Test match to date. Barbara took 3-9 in the first innings which included the wickets of Kiran Baluch and captain Shaiza Khan. She remains only one of four Ireland players to have taken a Test wicket.
