Born 16th July 1998 in Lambeth, Surrey, is Test, ODI and T20 International player for England, Sophia Ivy Rose Dunkley.
A right-hand batter and leg-break bowler, Sophia burst onto the international scene in a T20 International against Bangladesh in 2018. She didn’t bat or bowl but took a catch.
It is in the longer forms of the game where Sophia has made her mark, none more so than the night before her 24th birthday where she scored her maiden ODI century against South Africa at Bristol. It came from just 93 deliveries and against a full South African attack. She also played in the ODI World Cup in March where England made it to the final.
Three Test matches so far for Sophia and against three different teams, India in 2021, Australia in 2021/22 and South Africa in 2022. Her top score has been against India where she made a measured 74 not out in her debut. She has a Test average of 50.66.
Only 24 deliveries of her leg-breaks have made the international stage and her best return is 1-6 against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
