Born on 14th January 1994 in Shepparton, Victoria, current Test, ODI and T20I player for Australia, Beth Mooney began her career in Queensland.
Mooney made her debut for Queensland four days after her sixteenth birthday, batting at number nine and keeping wickets in a 50 over match in 2009/10. A year later she made her T20 debut for Queensland where she was runout by her opposite number for NSW, Alyssa Healy.
Slowly, steadily gathering runs and dismissals for Queensland Beth is noticed by the national selectors and is chosen in the ODI team as wicket keeper and opening batter to play the White Ferns in 2015/16. She scores a half century and dismisses New Zealand keeper Rachel Priest.
Regular keeper Alyssa Healy returns for the next match but Mooney remains at the top of the order where she becomes a fixture to the present day. With a high score of 125 not out, Beth has two centuries in the format. She appeared in the 2017 and 2022 World Cups.
Mooney’s T20 debut happened in the same season of 2015/16 and she quickly built a reputation as a no-nonsense, quiet operator. Others will slam the ball at the other end while Mooney seems to score at the same rate with much less fanfare. This was never more apparent than in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020 when she was named player of the series. It was the third T20 World Cup tournament in which she had played.
Beth made her Test debut in November 2017 in the Ashes series against England at North Sydney Oval.
